Welcome to Meridian

Dismiss

Meridian is a Europe-focused, bias-aware news digest: one finite daily edition drawn from curated, openly rated sources. It exists to put viewpoints side by side — expressly including the Global South — instead of filtering by political direction. There is deliberately no feed, no notifications, no endless scrolling.

Every source carries an open classification on three axes from −3 to +3: economic (redistributive left ↔ market-liberal right), cultural along GAL–TAN (green–alternative–libertarian ↔ traditional–authoritarian–nationalist), and EU stance (eurosceptic ↔ federalist). Added to that are reliability (1–5, independent of the political line), state influence, and the newsroom’s perspective: DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Europe, Global South, or international.

The spectrum grid overlays the economic and the cultural axis: each cell stands for one combination of the two, and its fill shows how many articles sit there. That makes visible which parts of the spectrum an edition covers — and where it names its gaps.

How the ratings are made, how they can be contested, and what every term means is explained on the methodology page.

You are reading full mode. The recommended way is the compact daily edition — curated, balanced, read in five minutes.
